Black Ministers' Forum (standing left to right): Rev. Jacob Armstrong, Barbara Hampton, Rev. M.W. Williams, Dee Bennett, Rev. Clarence Dennis Edwards, Bishop Jessie L. Burris, Rev. Robert L. James and Rev. Robert L. James. Rev. Jacob N. Armstrong was born December 25, 1900 and died May 17, 1993. Armstrong was pastor of Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Sherrill. Born July 31, 1948 in Little Rock, Rev. C. (Clarence) Dennis Edwards was the pastor of St. John Baptist Church in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas. Rev. Marine Webb Williams was pastor for 45 years at the Greater Archview Baptist Church at 1720 West 23rd Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born February 5, 1913 at Cotton Plant, Woodruff County, Arkansas. Rev. Williams was president and founder of the Sarah Daisy Garden Court, Inc., a facility developed to help low income elderly, handicapped and homeless people. He served on the Board of Trustees at Arkansas Baptist College and Philander Smith College. He was a counselor for adult education and served as vice president of the Consolidated Missionary Baptist State Convention. He was Moderator of the Union District Association for more than 20 years. He died at age 86 on October 6, 1999 in Little Rock. In 1984, Dr. Mildred Delores (Dee) Bennett announced that she would not be running as an independent candidate for North Little Rock, Arkansas, mayor but might seek the position of alderman for the proposed Ward 5. Dr. Bennett had a doctorate in psychology and was a counselor with the Pulaski County School District. She was state director of People United to Serve Humanity. Bishop J.L. (Jessie L.) Burris was the pastor of Christ Temple Cathedral, 1923 Arch Street, Little Rock, Arkansas is a 1981 cum laude graduate of Philander Smith College, Little Rock. He is a member of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society and listed in the 1980 edition of Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities. Rev. Robert L. James is pastor of the Lewis Street Church of Christ. His education was received at Bowser Christian Institute in Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas; Nashville Christian Institute in Nashville, Tennessee; Tennessee State University; and the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.
